SMILE DESIGN

Reveal your real smile

While laminate veneers may be the first concept that comes to mind when thinking about smile design, it is worth noting that in some cases, the desired smile can be achieved without them. Other approaches, such as pink esthetics, lip esthetics, teeth cleaning, bleaching, or orthodontic treatments, can be utilized to address asymmetry and create the desired smile.

What is smile design?

Since the needs of each patient are unique, the processes are individually tailored. Factors such as facial features, gender, age, and the patient's expectations play a crucial role in determining the appropriate procedures. Smile design can be defined as a comprehensive approach that harmonizes the patient's overall facial structure, resulting in the desired aesthetic appearance and functionality. This involves creating a natural and beautiful shape for the teeth and gums, which may have been previously compromised for various reasons. The specific changes required for the teeth and gums are determined, both in terms of extent and method, as a result of the smile design process. Subsequently, the relevant dental procedures are implemented to achieve the desired outcome.

How it is done?

It is of utmost importance to assess the patient's expectations and develop a biologically appropriate treatment plan. During the initial session, a mock-up is created by taking measurements from the patient. This mock-up serves as a basis for planning. Facial and intraoral photographs are combined using computer software. Specially prepared temporary restoration teeth are placed on the patient's teeth, allowing for a partial preview of the final treatment result. The treatment plan may involve the following steps:
  • • Alignment of teeth levels.
  • • Planning for implant treatments in case of missing teeth.
  • • Application of teeth bleaching to address dark-colored teeth.
  • • Consideration of bonding, an aesthetic filling for spaces between teeth.
  • • If the aforementioned options are insufficient, restoration of teeth with laminate veneers may be necessary.

Smile Design

As a result of the smile design process, the necessary changes to the teeth and gums are determined in terms of extent and method. Based on these determinations, the relevant dental procedures are then applied to achieve the desired outcome.
